Studio Tools + Equipment
Grounded Printshop is equipped with a range of tools that invite both experimentation and mastery. From our risograph printer and screenprinting setup to papermaking equipment and etching presses, the space is designed to support artists at every stage of their practice. Whether you’re layering bold prints, pulling your first edition, or cranking out handmade paper from, the equipment here isn’t just for use, t’s meant to be explored, shared, and pushed in new directions.

SILKSCREEN
Screenprinting at Grounded is rooted in paper-based work, with tools that support both flexibility and experimentation. While we do have a t-shirt printer (Leadhead Screenprinting), most of our setup is geared toward printing on paper, with movable screenprinting boards, squeegees, an exposure unit, and a washout booth all part of the space. You can engage with the studio through open sessions or memberships. We do have some inks available as an additional fee.

BOOKBINDING
We love making books at Grounded. With a range of tools, supplies, and plenty of space to spread out, the studio is well-suited for zines, artist books, and one-off projects. It’s not a space for restoration work or large-scale production, but our risograph makes small runs of printed content easy and fun to explore. Each month we host an intro to bookbinding class where you’ll make a small coptic-bound notebook—an accessible starting point that opens the door to all kinds of bookmaking possibilities.

RISOGRAPH PRINTING
We have a risograph printer at Grounded with four color drums, and it’s a pretty special thing to have access to—there isn’t another one like it within 100 miles. It’s a great fit for zines and art books, especially if you’re interested in work that embraces the texture and character of the printing process. Rather than feeling like a polished, invisible step, risograph printing brings the making to the surface, giving each piece a distinct, handmade presence.

WEAVING
We have a 50" Varpapuu countermarch loom at Grounded, and it’s a tool that really rewards care and attention. Right now, we’re offering free access to someone interested in working with it—thinking of it a bit like a quiet, self-directed residency. If you’re drawn to weaving and open to spending time with the loom, it’s a chance to settle into a slower, more focused rhythm and develop something meaningful over time.
