About the event
October 19th, from 10 AM to 2 PM.
with Megan Merz, a local artist and printmaker.
Let's get (tastefully) spooky! Grounded sits on the edge of a beautiful local landmark- The Erie Cemetery! This cemetery was founded in 1851 and is home to some incredible tombstones and mausoleums, so many of which have gorgeous carvings that can serve as inspiration to contemporary art makers.
So come be one of those art-makers! We'll spend an hour roaming the cemetery to get inspiration via taking pictures or sketching, then come back to Grounded to use relief printing methods to take those designs to another level! Make some stamps with creeping ivy, or use the art nouveau or Egyptian revival carvings hidden around the cemetery to create a unique print block.
You will be provided rubber carving blocks and tools, and have the printing equipment of Grounded Print shop at your disposal with a teacher to guide you.
All skill levels welcome, ages 10 and up. All students under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
