Large Sheet Papermaking: Deckle Boxes & Inclusions

In this hands-on papermaking workshop, participants will explore the process of creating large handmade sheets using a variety of deckle boxes and traditional mould and deckle techniques. Working with pulp as a sculptural and expressive material, we will experiment with scale, texture, color, and embedded materials to create richly layered papers. This Is beginner friendly! Throughout the class, participants will learn how to pull large sheets by hand, pigment pulp, and incorporate inclusions such as plant material, thread, collage elements, dust, fabric, and other flat objects that can withstand the pressing process. We will cover the full papermaking workflow from start to finish — forming sheets, couching, pressing, and drying — giving students a complete understanding of the process and studio setup.
