About the event
Beginner Etching with Reclaimed Plastic
Discover the magic of printmaking in this beginner-friendly MONOPRINT and ETCHING workshop! Instead of traditional copper or zinc plates, we’ll use reclaimed plastic as our printing surface—an accessible and eco-friendly way to explore this classic process.
You’ll learn how to draw and carve into the plastic plate to create line-based designs, plus a monoprinted background layer, then ink and print your image using a press. We’ll cover some of the basics of etching—from what can be used as a plate, inking, and wiping, to pulling prints.
No prior printmaking experience is needed—just bring your ideas and curiosity. Sketches are helpful but we've also got a plethora of visual inspiration here. By the end of class, you’ll leave with a small set of your own original prints and the knowledge to continue experimenting with this versatile technique.
