Join us November 9th from 11-3 

In this beginner freindly paper making workshop with Nicole Malcolm participants will use a variety of western papermaking techniques together or separately. There will be demonstrations for simple sheet forming, as well as instructions for pigmening pulp. Workshop participants will work with a wide range of pulp painting, stencil making, and additions of inclusions (flat items, ex: dried flowers, magazine clippings, personal artwork such as prints, ribbon, yarn, and more. Molds, deckles, various pigmented bottles of finer beaten pulp paints, and stencil images will be needed as tools. Stencils and a variety of painterly processes will be demonstrated to enable you to produce a wide range of images and colors. 

About Nicole:

Nicole Malcolm is a print and hand papermaking artist born and currently residing in Northeast Ohio. Beginning Fall 2024, Malcolm is a current MFA Candidate at Kent State University studying Print Media and Photography. She received her BFA at Ohio University in 2021, with a concentration in Printmaking, a minor in Art History and a certificate in Museum Studies.

Malcolm’s print, paper, and mixed media works, aim to represent physical and mental spaces, emphasizing memory, growth, and intimacy. These themes come directly from significant moments in her own life. By creating this work, she hopes to invite others to feel comfortable sharing their life stories as well.

Malcolm has participated in national print exchanges, and shown her work in several local and national exhibitions. Her work has been highlighted in publications such as CAN (Collective Arts Network) and Canvas Magazine, in Cleveland, OH. Malcolm is also a recent Ohio Arts Council recipient for the Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Grant, studying hands-on papermaking techniques with sculpture, paper artist, and founder of the Morgan Conservatory art of Papermaking and Education Foundation, Tom Balbo. Malcolm anticipated receiving her Masters of Fine Arts in Spring 2026.
